Modi-Naveen-Dharmendra wishes Western Odisha People on Nuakhai Festival

NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union PNG-Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan were on Sunday wished the people of Western Odisha on occasion of Nuakhai Festival.

PM Modi has greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Nuakhai Juhar. In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “The special occasion of Nuakhai is about celebrating the hardwork of our farmers. It is due to their efforts that our nation is fed. May this auspicious day bring prosperity and good health for everyone. Nuakhai Juhar!”

“ନୂଆଁ ଧାନ୍ ସାଙ୍ଗେ ନୂଆଁ ଆଶା ନେଇକରି ପାଲନ୍ କରୁନ୍ ଇ ଭାଇଚାରାର୍ ପରବ୍ ନୂଆଁଖାଇ। ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କର୍ ସୁଖ ଆର୍ ସମୃଦ୍ଧି କାମନା କରୁଛେଁ। ସଭିଙ୍କୁ ମୋର୍ ନୂଆଁଖାଇ ଜୁହାର୍। #NuakhaiJuhar #ନୂଆଁଖାଇଜୁହାର,” tweeted Naveen Patnaik.

Nuakhai is an agricultural festival mainly observed by people of western Odisha in India. It is observed to welcome the new rice of the season.According to the calendar it is observed on panchami tithi (the fifth day) of the lunar fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada or Bhadraba (August–September), the day after the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
