CUTTACK/BHUBANESWAR:In pursuance of the call for Nasha Mukt Odisha by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Odisha, and under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Nayagarh Police has intensified action against illegal liquor trade.
Today, on 29.08.2026, Odagaon PS team intercepted an illegal ID liquor smuggling attempt near Rohibanka, Odagaon.
1. Case Reference: Odagaon P.S. Case No. 307 dated 29.08.2026 U/s 52(a) of the Odisha Excise Act.
2. Brief Facts: On receipt of reliable information, a team of Odagaon PS conducted checking near Rohibanka. One Ashok Leyland pickup van coming from Karchuli, Ganjam towards Odagaon was intercepted. On search, huge quantity of ID liquor was found being transported without any valid license/permit.
One accused person has been apprehended on the spot.
Name of accused: Chinmaya Pradhan (27 years), S/o Dhoba Pradhan, Vill- Karchuli Main Road, PS- Buguda, Dist- Ganjam.
3. Seizure Made:
a) One Ashok Leyland pickup van bearing Regd. No. OD32G-6817
b) 65 Nos. of Jari bags, each containing 500 Nos. of Jari pouches (100 ml each) – Total 32,500 pouches containing 3,250 litres of ID liquor.
4. Action Taken: The accused has been arrested in connection with the above case. Inspector, Odagaon PS will be the I.O. of the case. Further investigation is in progress to unearth the source and backward/forward linkages.
Nayagarh Police appeals to the public to share information regarding illicit liquor/drugs trade. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.
