Lord Jagannath’s Car Festival: Chaka Dera Anukula held at Rath Khala in Odisha’s Puri

PURI/BHUBANESWAR: With Shri Jagannah Temple Administration led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s trusted lieutenant and senior IAS officer, Dr Krishna Kumar making all out effort to complete the Chariots construction for the World famous Car Festival of Lord Jagannath in India’s pilgrimage city of Puri in eastern State of Odisha in July this year,  the SJTA with the help of Temple servitors conducted Chaka Dera Anukula-initiation ceremony of chariot wheels of the Holy Trinity, sources said.

As per the tradition, the Chaka Dera ritual of Lord Balabhadra’s chariot Taladhwaja was carried first followed by the ritual of Nandighosa and Darpadalana chariot.The ritual was performed after arrival of ‘Agyan Mala’. Fixing of an axe with two wheels of each chariot is conducted during the niti also called ‘Bhaunri Jatra’.

The ‘Chaka Dera Anukula’ or the initiation of chariot wheels ceremony for the upcoming festival began on the concluding day of ‘Bahara Chandan Yatra’ of the Holy Trinity which is also known as ‘Bhaunri’ festival.
