BHUBANESWAR: While on her way to appear before the City SDJM Court here on Wednesday, honeytrap blackmailer, Archana Nag Chand, blamed media for false publicity against her.
‘Without any evidence , kindly don’t publish or air any news , ‘ Archan was heard saying amid women police personnel escorting her “Don’t air false news without any evidence. Media shouldn’t misuse its power,” she said. Earlier in the day, she was brought to the court from the Jharpada Special Jail here amid tight security.
The Twin City Commissionerate Police had arrested her on October 7.Archana Nag, the prime accused of the high profile honey trapping and blackmailing case in Bhubaneswar has returned to Jharpada jail after she appeared before the SDJM Court on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, her advocates filed bail petitions praying to the court for sanction of her interim bail. Hearing the bail pleas virtually, the court had deferred the prayers of Archana twice.
Subsequently, Archana Nag was asked by the SDJM Court, Bhubaneswar today to appear before the beginning of the trial of the case. Accordingly, Archana was brought from the Jharpada jail to the court amid high police security and put up before the SDJM. She was again remanded to judicial custody after the first trial winded up in the afternoon.
Arachana Nag Chand and her husband , Jagabandhu Chand were booked under Sections 341, 328, 324, 354 – C, 370, 386/387/388, 389, 419/420, 465, 506, 120 – B of IPC and Section 66 -E, 67 of IT Act and presently lodged at Jharpada Special Jail.
Amid the Bhubaneswar SDJM Court has been rejecting their bail pleas, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) may probe into the alleged illegal financial transactions by the couple and their asserts worth more than Rs 40 Crores. Media reports said, the ED has sought the FIR copy of the case from the Twin City Commissionerate Police. The agency is likely to trace the source of the money received by the husband-wife duo.
While Archana is accused of extorting lakhs of rupees from politicians, businessmen and influential persons by blackmailing them with videos of intimate moments between her and them, Jagabandhu had alleged involvement in the offence.
The couple have reared a white horse and costly dogs in her alishan bungalow at Satya Vihar in the capital city here. Archana is also a dog lover. She has kept dogs of high breeds. She was spending lakhs of rupees for feeding the horse and the dogs. The Alishan Bungalow of Archana has beds, sofa sets and other furniture worth lakhs of rupees. Besides, she also owns costly cars like BMW, Suzuki Swift and Mahindra Thar.
