BHUBANESWAR:Toay i.e on 17.05.2026, a short while ago, Sri Keshab Subudhi, Junior Engineer, Bhapur RW Section, Nayagarh along with his associate Sri Ashutosh Baliarsingh ( Private Individual) been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe Rs. 1,36,000/- from a Contractor in lieu of clearing bills of the construction and maintenance work under MMSY( Mukhya Mantri Sadak YOJANA) for the year 2021–22 in Khandapara area of Nayagarh district and to refund the security deposit.
As per the conditions of the Govt, after completion of the maintenance period, the Initial Security Deposit (ISD) along with the security deposit is returned to the Contractor. Further, the ISD and security deposit stands forfeited if the measurements are not taken for the maintenance works. The Contractor had been requesting accused JE Sri Subudhi for last 3/4 months after completion of maintenance works to take measurements, and to facilitate for release of security money in his favour.
But, JE Sri Subudhi demanded bribe Rs.1.36 Lakhs for the above purpose from the Contactor. Being aggrieved by the demanded bribe, the contractor approached the vigilance authorities narrating his harassment.
Today, the JE called the contractor at his official quarters at Khandapara and asked him to hand over the demanded bribe money to his associate Sri Ashutosh Baliarsingh (Private Person engaged by Sri Subudhi to act as Supervisor) who was also present there. Following this, a team of Odisha Vigilance, nabbed Sri Subudhi and Sri Baliarsingh while taking bribe Rs 1.36 Lakhs from the contractor. The entire tainted bribe money Rs.1.36 Lakhs has been recovered from them and seized.
