Jankia Police Seizes 1,900 Litres of Illegal Liquor under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan

BHUBANESWAR:In a significant crackdown against illegal liquor trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Jankia Police successfully intercepted and seized a huge consignment of illicitly transported Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).

On 16.06.2026 at about 07:16 PM, acting on reliable information, a police team of Jankia Police Station conducted a raid at Bahada Chhak under Jankia P.S. During the operation, a Mahindra Bolero Pick-up vehicle bearing Registration No. OD-02-BK-0636 was intercepted and searched.
During the search, police recovered and seized 380 cartons of ASKA-40 IMFL containing approximately 1,900 litres of liquor. The driver of the vehicle, Debasis Panda (27) of Taratua, Khordha Town, was apprehended at the spot.
The accused failed to produce any valid licence, permit, or authorization for possession and transportation of the liquor. Accordingly, Jankia P.S. Case No. 420 dated 16.06.2026 has been registered under Section 52(a)(i) of the Odisha Excise Act, 2016, and the seized liquor along with the vehicle has been taken into custody.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the involvement of other persons connected with the illegal transportation and distribution network.
