BHUBANESWAR: The 1997 Batch Odisha Cadre IPS Officer, Sanjay Kumar, man from Bihar, has completed his central deputation with the Frontier, Headquarters of SSB as IGP. Sanjay Kumar served in SSB around 7 years with an extension from 04-01-2021 to 12.03.2022.
“I’d like to announce that I’ve completed my tenure in SSB and on repatriation going to join my cadre Odisha as ADG on promotion. Thankful to #SSB for giving me opportunities and exposure for my career enhancement. Jai Hind,” Outgoing SSB IG Sanjay Kumar tweeted @Sanjay97odisha.
The Odisha cadre IPS officer Kumar was the main brain behind creation of Small Action Team at the ANO theatre in SSB . He has earned good reputation for righting guiding each Commandants of SSB to aspire for getting peace in the state of deployment.
Earlier, few days back, on his successful tenure in SSB and likely repatriation to parent Cadre, Odisha, a farewell function was organized in honour of the outgoing IG Frontier SSB Ranikhet at SHQ Almora by DIG SHQ and officers of its field formations.
Before being promoted to IG rank, Kumar had served as the Muzaffarpur DIG in the Bihar sector of SSB. Prior to joining SSB in 2015 and handling anti-Maoist operations in Bihar, he had also served as SP, SSP and DIG in Maoist-hit Rayagada, Sambalpur and Balasore districts of Odisha. The Bihar sector of SSB has 17 battalions under its command
The officer had also been awarded President’s Police Medal, Governor’s Medal, Antarik Suraksha Seva Padak and DG’s Golden Disc for maintaining internal security and carrying out operations against Maoists.
Sanjay Kumar’s batch mates in Odisha have already promoted to ADP Rank. They were Diptesh Pattanayak(ADGP), Prisons & Correctional Service with Additional Charge as CMD, OSRTC, Asheet Panigrahi as ADGP(Vigilance) and DS Kuttey(ADGP), Special Secretary to CM and Rekha Lohani as ADGP(CAW&CW). Once Sanjay Kumar joined, he would also get ADGP rank.
