Heavy Rain Expected in next 24 hours in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: A low-pressure area is likely to form over north Odisha and the neighbourhood during the next 24 hours, the Regional Office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here said.

“The cyclonic circulation over Bangladesh and neighbourhood extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height persists. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over north Odisha and neighbourhood during the next 24 hours,” the IMD said.

The weather office has issued an ‘orange warning’ for heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Bargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Angul during the next 24 hours.

Heavy rainfall is also likely at one or two places in Boudh, Kalahandi, Balangir, Nuapada, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Baleswar districts. Squally wind speed of 40-5-kmp gusting to 60 km is likely along the Odisha coast during this period, the IMD said.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Bhadrak, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Angul.
