BHUBANESWAR:Women empowerment is a national imperative and essential for inclusive development. A society that respects and develops women, that society progresses with strength and dignity, said Hon’ble Governor of Odisha Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati. The Governor said this while participating as the chief guest at the ‘Nari Shakti – Odia Asmita’ programme organised by The Times of India on Sunday.

Describing the event as timely and meaningful, the Governor said in his opening remarks that it honours the contribution of women in shaping the cultural, social and economic identity of Odisha.
The Governor said that women are the first educators of family values ​​and the silent architects of a compassionate and progressive society. Referring to the changing landscape, the Governor said that today’s women are excelling in various fields like governance, education, health, science and technology, entrepreneurship, sports, arts and the armed forces. The Governor said that modern Indian women are confident, capable and taking the lead in their own rights.
The Governor mentioned that this transformation has been possible due to progressive policies and visionary leadership at the state and central levels. Noting that the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is prioritizing the importance of women empowerment, the Governor said that inclusive development is possible only when women actively participate in economic, social and decision-making processes.
Describing the passage of the Women’s Power Act as a historic step, the Governor said it will increase women’s representation in governance and strengthen democracy.
The Governor also said that Odia’s identity is deeply reflected in the history of the state and women are playing a key role in its preservation and promotion. The Governor said that women-led development will play a vital role in shaping a developed Odisha.
Praising The Times of India for organizing such an event, the Governor said that it will inspire positive social change.
On this occasion, the Hon’ble Governor congratulated the honoured women who have achieved excellence in various fields and called for concerted efforts to ensure equal opportunities for women in all fields.
At the event, Pragyabrat Brahma, Response Head, The Times of India, Bhubaneswar, delivered the welcome address while Bureau Chief Ashok Pradhan proposed the vote of thanks.
