BHUBANESWAR: Former Union Minister and Hotel Mayfair Group Chairman, Dilip Ray has all praise for the scions of Mayurbhanj Royal palace for keeping Belgadia Palace as a Luxury Destination neighbouring West Bengal.Highlighting the artistic marvels of the 200 year old Palace, Ray, who recently stayed there during his trip to Kolkata on road, wrote a piece  in his facebook timeline titling “ Belgadia_Palace- A Gem of a Destination,”

“I fall short of words to appreciate this noble endeavour of the Royal Family of Mayurbhanj- HH Maharaja Shri Praveen Chandra Bhanj Deo & HH Maharani Rashmi Rajyalaxmi Bhanjdeo. In particularly, I would like to express my appreciation & gratitude to Princess Mrinalika & Akshita M Bhanj Deo who have initiated this initiative. Our State needs more enterprising entrepreneurs like them and I wish them good luck and success. It is a Truly Must See and Must Visit Place for anyone wishing to explore Odisha at its ultimate best. The Belgadia Palace,” Ray wrote.

“Odisha is in every sense India’s best-Kept Secret where there’s a surprise awaiting one at every corner. This time it happened with me and quite honestly, I am fascinated and captivated by this beauty that adorns our State,” the Mayfair Group Chairman wrote.

“In these difficult times, when public transport is operating at a sub-optimum capacity, due to the unavailability of flight, I took a road trip from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata on 27th August. As there was a lockdown in Kolkata on 27th, I decided to stay at the much heard about Belgadia Palace- home to the erstwhile royal family of Mayurbhanj, now opened to the public by the Royals to promote Odisha Art, Culture, Heritage and Customs,” Ray wrote.

“I always have had a special attraction for heritage properties and having been to States like Rajasthan and others, I was mesmerized and at the same time equally proud that our State too has such a spectacular Palace with an incredible Historical significance. A finest collection of its kind, painted in white colour, this 200-year-old Palace which is a mix of Greek and Victorian Architecture is a visual treat. Add to this the State-of-the-art facilities, well-appointed rooms and the gracious Hospitality, I must say that having stayed at end number of Luxury Properties across the globe, this was one of my best experience, something which I will always cherish,” Ray added.
