BHUBANESWAR: Former Special Director Intelligence Bureau and , Ex Central Information Commissioner Yashovardhan Jha Azad (IPS Retired) filed PIL on Odisha DGP issue in Supreme Court, which was accepted by the Court.
Mr Azad wrote a Book ‘ Policing the Republic ‘ recently hit stalls , expressed his deep concern on selection process adopted by Odisha Government to choose HoPF.
‘What is happening in Orissa is a tragedy – a clear violation of SC directives. Names of 3 in panel were sent in May 2026 to UPSC for the DGP selection, but at the meeting in UPSC, the panel was withdrawn by state government stating that integrity certificate was not given against one name,” Azad said.
‘This was wrong since later new names were added and 2 officers promoted to choose a favoured one. The panel of May should stand and that is why I went to the court so that SC directives are followed scrupulously. Otherwise police reforms would become a joke,” he added.
