BARGARH:  A woman underwent breast cancer surgery for the first time at Bargarh Cancer Hospital today. Since the opening of this cancer hospital, the number of cancer patients registered in the OPD is also increasing day by day. However, it is gradually being systematized for the treatment of the victims.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is set to inaugurate Odisha’s second 100-bedded cancer hospital at Bargarh’s Khedapali District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) on 20th Feb 2024. The preparations for the opening of the 5-storey cancer hospital have already been completed.

The state government has invested Rs 106 crore in the construction of this 100-bed cancer hospital. Staffed with two radio oncologists, two medical oncologists, 8 General Duty Medical Officers (GDMOs), as well as specialists in O&G, ENT, surgery, and medicine, along with radiotherapy technicians, pharmacists, nursing officers, attendants, and support staff, the hospital is well-equipped to cater to the needs of patients.

OPD treatment has been going on since the opening of the hospital but today for the first time a breast cancer patient underwent surgery. This woman is suffering from Carcinoma Breast Cancer Stage-3. It has been operated in Procedure modified radical mastectomy. Onco Surgeon Dr Naresh Pradhan performed the operation and Anaesthetist Dr Prakash Sahu. Dr. Deepak Sahu. Nursing officer Pranati Sahu, Nitu, Sushama key staff contributed in this operation.
