Ex Minister Naba Das Murder accused Dismissed ASI Gopal Das’s mental condition was found stable and normal, says CID-CB

BHUBANESWAR:   The Odisha CID-CB , which filed its charge sheet over the murder of ex-minister Naba Das, on Friday, claimed that key accused, dismissed ASI Gopal Das’s mental condition was found ‘stable’ and ‘normal’.

‘During investigation some family members of the accused claimed that Gopal Das was suffering from bipolar disorder long back. To verify the authenticity of the claim, a special medical board was constituted by the Odisha DMET, who conducted their examination and opined that they had not found active psychopathology in accused Gopal Das,” CID CB said.

‘Further from locals and colleagues, it was also ascertain that his mental condition was quite normal and there was no abnormality. Moreover , he was cooperative in the investigation and replying to all the quetins asked in congent manner. The investigation has thus established that the accused Gopal commiteed the crime in his senses and in a pre-planned manner. His mental condition was found stable and normal,’ it said.

Months after the murder of former Odisha Health Minster and BJD strongman, Naba Das, Odisha Police Crime Branch on Friday submitted the final 543-page chargesheet in the Jharsuguda SDJM court against the sacked ASI Gopal Das in connection with the murder case.

‘After evaluation if all the evidences , oral, documentary, medico legal, cyber forensic and ballistic opinion, it became clear that the accused Gopal Das, had developed personal grudge and anguish against deceased Minister Naba Das. He felt threatened from Das and his supporters and feared for his life. Gradually he made up his mind to commit to the murder,” CID –CB said.

“For this he meticulously planned and then executes the crime. Hence final form vide CID-CB PS FF-N0-05 dated 24.05.2023 u/s of 307/302 of IPC r/w section 27(1) arms act has been submitted on Friday at SDJM Jharsuguda against Gopal Das son of Late Ballav Das of Berhampur to face the his trial in the court of law,’ CID-CB said.

‘However, the investigation is kept open in respect of obtain of few reports and clarification and for complying with some formalities, CID-CB added.
