BHUBANESWAR:For the past few days, the Odisha Police has been conducting “Operation Dharpagarh” campaign to make the state drug-free and to curb drug trafficking. In this operation, all the district police of the state have participated and have succeeded in curbing the smuggling of a large amount of drugs like ganja, brown sugar, cough syrup.

Along with this, a large number of ganja plants have been destroyed. Drugs worth more than Rs 10 crore have been seized and thousands of acres of ganja cultivation have been completely destroyed.

A total of 94 cases have been registered for drug smuggling, while 1400 kg of ganja, 1 kg 650 grams of brown sugar, 133 grams of heroin, 292 bottles of cough syrup have been seized.
Along with this, the ganja plants cultivated in 2706 acres of land have been completely destroyed. Forty accused involved in drug smuggling have been arrested and the vehicles used have been seized. Similarly, NSA cases have been registered against 18 criminals.
State Director General of Security Shri Yogesh Bahadur Khurania has directed to take necessary steps to identify and arrest the most dangerous criminals in the state, take strict action against anti-social elements, crack down on illegal ganja smuggling and completely eradicate ganja cultivation.
Accordingly, SPs of all the districts of the state, under the supervision of Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Shri Sanjay Kumar, have joined the “Operation Dharpagarh” campaign.
