Dr. Satyajit Behera, Assistant Surgeon, Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs.30,000

BHUBANESWAR: Today i.e on 17.08.2025, a short while ago, Dr. Satyajit Behera, Assistant Surgeon, Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar, has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs.30,000/- from a functionary of an NGO for signing the work certificate of employees engaged by the NGO required for drawal of their two month ( June & July, 2026) salaries*.

*The NGO had been engaged by the said hospital to assist unknown and destitute patients coming to Casualty for treatment*. The functionary of the   NGO had been requesting Dr. Behera since June 2026 for signing the work certificate. But, Dr. Behera, demanded Rs.30,000/- from the functionary (Complainant) of the NGO for the above purpose.  Facing such  bribe demand and harrassment, the complt reported the matter to vigilance authorities. On this, today, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Dr.Behera while taking bribe Rs. 30,000/- from the complt.*The tainted bribe money Rs.30,000/- has been recovered and seized from the possession of accused Dr Behera*.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at three locations linked to Dr.Behera from DA angle.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No. 19 dtd. 16.08.2026 u/s 7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused Dr.Behera, Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar. Detailed report follows.
