BHUBANESWAR:Dr. Pradeep Kumar Panigrahi, Member of Parliament (MP) for Berhampur, today expressed his gratitude and thanks to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji in a special letter. He highly appreciated the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister for the transformation and modernization of 7 major railway stations of Odisha – Parlakhemundi, Balangir, Barapali, Talcher, Kesinga, Baripada and Bimalagarh – under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS).
The MP mentioned in his letter that the Prime Minister’s efforts in the development of Indian Railways are extraordinary. The launch of the country’s first hydrogen train, along with the construction of future high-capacity ‘bullet trains’ and high-speed rail corridors, will take the country’s economy and communication system to new heights.
Demand to name it after Maharaja Krishnachandra Gajapati:
Amidst these developmental initiatives, MP Dr. Panigrahi has presented an emotional and important demand of the people of Odisha to the Prime Minister. He has requested that the renovated Paralakhemundi Railway Station be named after the first Prime Minister (Chief Minister) of Odisha and the main architect of the formation of a separate Odisha province, ‘Maharaja Krishnachandra Gajapati’.
Maharaja Krishnachandra Gajapati served as the Prime Minister of Odisha twice and made a unique contribution in the formation of a linguistically separate Odisha province on April 1, 1936. In honor of his great sacrifice and historical glory, naming the station “Maharaja Krishnachandra Gajapati Railway Station” will inspire the coming generation, said Dr. Panigrahi.
A copy of this letter has been sent to the Honorable Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwani Baishnab, Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi and senior officials of East Coast Railway for necessary action.
