Dharmendra Pradhan Congrats India’s new CAG GC Murmu

BHUBANESWAR/NEW DELHI: Union PNG-Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has congratulated new CAG of India, GC Murmu. Murmu who hails from Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, became first Odia to hold the post of CAG.

“Congratulations to Shri Girish Chandra Murmu ji on his appointment as the new CAG of India.An excellent administrator, Shri Murmu is also the first Odia to hold the prestigious post of India’s Comptroller Auditor General. I wish him the best in his new role,” the Union Minister Pradhan tweeted.

After Shaktikant Das as RBI Governer, another Odia stalwart and recently resigned Lt. Governor of J&K G C Murmu appoints as 14th Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG).

In October 2019, he became the 1st Lt. Governor of J&K, after it became a new Union Territory. From which he resigned on 5th August and became the CAG on Thursday replacing Rajiv Mehrishi.

CAG Murmu, hails from a small town called Betnoti, in tribal-dominated Mayurbhanj district. One of their brothers, Sirish is a chief general manager in Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai while another, Siba Shankar, is an Indian railway service officer currently posted in Mysore. Manoj is a state government employee. The two other brothers, Dilip and Sarat, are into farming.
