BHUBANESWAR:Just as Mahatma Gandhi united the country by turning cleanliness into a mass movement, we too have to create an atmosphere of strong responsibility for humanity and social reform, said Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan while participating in the birth anniversary celebrations of Veer Surendra Sai and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose organized by the daily ‘Sambad’ and ‘Kanak News’ in Sambalpur today.
Shri Pradhan said in his speech that as a grateful nation, we should frequently recall the sacrifices and valor of great personalities like Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Veer Surendra Sai and his brother Udanthava Sai, which will forever be a source of inspiration for the new generation. It was only because of the sacrifices of these invincible warriors of Sambalpur that Sambalpur was able to raise its voice against the British rule. The sacrifices made by Surendra Sai and his brother Udanthava Sai for the country by serving 37 years in prison, today’s children will have to learn many new things.
Shri Pradhan described the “Punshcha Puruthi” campaign launched by ‘Sambad’ as a noble initiative in the spirit of the resolve that India has taken today for environmental protection under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He called upon everyone to join the efforts being made to reduce carbon dioxide through the use of alternative energy.
Shri Pradhan further said, we have to prepare from now to fulfill the dream of a developed Odisha by 2036 and a developed India by 2047. This development will be successful only when our society is healthy and well-organized. Ideal characters like Malati Devi and Rama Devi will be created in today’s society. He emphasized on keeping the environment clean, giving right guidance to the new generation, taking care of the health of mothers and children and promoting the mother tongue. He said that when these social and cultural goals of ours are fulfilled, only then the sacrifices of great fighters like Veer Surendra Sai and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will be successful in the true sense. Finally, he thanked the news organization for dedicating the edition of ‘Jugar’ in the memory of the two great heroes.
