BHUBANESWAR:Ever since the Odia daughter assumed the highest constitutional responsibility of the country, the national and state leaders of the Congress party have been making unsavory comments. They are trying to belittle the Head of State. It is the Congress party’s constant practice to make such comments. By disrespecting the President, the PCC President has insulted not only Jajpur but the entire Odia nation, said senior leader and former Jajpur district president Shri Gautam Ray.
Shri Rai said that for the first time, a President of India, Smt. Draupadi Murmu, visited Jajpur and had darshan of Maa Birja. The first visit of His Excellency the President, Smt. Draupadi Murmu to the temple of Maa Birja has filled the hearts of the people of Jajpur with great enthusiasm, for the first time the local people have got the opportunity to provide hospitality to the President. This visit of the President has increased the greatness of the land of Birja and its glory has been widely publicized at the national and international levels. It is a matter of pride for all of us that an Odia tribal girl, even as the President, is visiting our region. Her presence has given us great joy. Raising questions about the President’s visit at such a time shows the low mentality of the PCC President. It is highly condemnable to make a speech comparing the expenses of His Excellency the President’s visit with the drinking water project.
Shri Rai said that there is no doubt about the right of people to drink clean drinking water. There is a problem with drinking water in Palatpur panchayat, there is no complaint about it. The Modi government gave Rs 180 crore to provide taps to every house in Dasharathpur block under the Jala Jeevan Mission under the previous BJD government, and out of this, Rs 178 crore has been spent in 2019. Despite this, clean drinking water has not reached that area. Everyone is aware of the widespread loot and corruption in the mega drinking water scheme.
Why is the Congress chief or his party leaders not asking the then BJD government why the people of Palatpur area are drinking clean water? It is not reasonable to open a twill by saving the President’s visit expenses. The Congress party chief and leaders should refrain from these unreasonable things. The state government, under the leadership of the current popular Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, is committed to providing clean drinking water to the people of the state, including Jajpur. Shri Roy said that strict action will be taken against him after exposing the massive corruption in drinking water supply in the past.
