PURI:The state government has launched a new digital system to honour the spiritual faith of Lord Jagannath’s devotees worldwide. On the eve of the Rath Yatra, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi launched the ‘Samarpan’ of the state-of-the-art digital hundi at the Shri Jagannath Temple Administration Office in Puri today. The portal and mobile app are being developed by the Electronics and Information Technology Department of the Government of Odisha for the digitalisation of donations offered to Lord Jagannath. This secure and advanced digital donation system will strengthen the spiritual connection between the countless devotees of Lord Jagannath.
This secure digital platform, developed by OCAC, has been integrated with the official portal of the Shri Jagannath Temple administration, providing the devotees with the convenience of donating with complete security and transparency.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the donation money collected through this system, which is intended to connect devotees from all over the world with the temple, will be invested in the development and maintenance of the temple. The Chief Minister said that in the coming days, this will prove to be a milestone in the protection of the tradition of Mahaprabhu and the overall development of the temple. With this, lakhs of Jagannath lovers in the country and abroad can now offer service at the feet of Mahaprabhu even while staying at home, the Chief Minister said.
To simplify the donation process, it has provided payment facilities through UPI, internet banking, debit and credit cards as well as WhatsApp. The system collects PAN details if required and issues an “80G” donation receipt. This helps in claiming income tax deductions and ensures complete financial transparency. Apart from donations, the mobile app also provides devotees with general temple information, announcements, latest updates and booking facilities for devotee accommodation.
This “Digital Hundi-Sadaparan” initiative, combining tradition and digital technology, reflects the clean and people-oriented governance of the state government. As an innovative step in the field of convenience and easy accessibility, the digital hundi has been linked to WhatsApp. This system is more easy, clean and time-saving, said Dr. Arvind Kumar Padhi, Chief Administrator of Shrimandir.
State Law, Excise and Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, Puri MP Dr. Sambit Patra, Pipili MLA Ashrit Patnaik, Satyabadi MLA Om Prakash Mishra, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Shrimandir Chief Administrator Dr. Arvind Kumar Padhi, Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Kumar Sharma and senior officers were present at the dedication ceremony.
