CUTTACK/BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi attended the State Level DGP and IGP Conference held at the State Police Bhavan and reviewed the law and order, internal security and ‘Smart Policing’ system of the State. He called for working with determination towards building a “Safe Odisha, Empowered Odisha and Prosperous Odisha” and emphasized on police reforms and modernization.
Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary Home Hemant Sharma, DGP Binaytosh Mishra, Director Intelligence RP Koche and other senior officers were among those present.
Key guidelines and important decisions of the Hon’ble Chief Minister at the conference:
Directs to implement a strict ‘zero tolerance’ policy against violence against women, organized crime and anti-social elements.
The plan is to increase the conviction rate for violence against women from 40% to at least 75%.
To create a ‘drug-free Odisha’ by 2029, there is a need to completely destroy the main syndicates and financial supply chains of drug trafficking.
Strict action against illegal forced donation collection and ‘Dada Batti’ before the upcoming Parvana season.
“Criminals will be identified by seeing the police, not innocent citizens”; instructions to treat ordinary citizens who come to the police station with compassion.
Deployment of Command & Control Centre, drones, trawlers, interceptor boats, ATVs and ex-servicemen to secure the 575 km long coastline.
Modern digital surveillance, strict monitoring of the ‘dark web’ and widespread awareness creation to prevent cyber fraud.
Special Investigation Fund sanctioned for strengthening intelligence system through NATGRID and CCTNS and modernizing police stations.
Emphasis on making the criminal investigation process more professional and modern technology-based.
There is a need to make the police system completely corruption-free, clean and trustworthy.
