Chennai-bound Coromandel Express collided with Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express in Odisha, PM condoles loss of lives, speaks to Ashwini Vaishnaw, Death Toll may cross 40

BALASORE/BHUBANESWAR:  The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives due to  train accident in Odisha.

Chennai-bound Coromandel Express (12841) collided with Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express (12864) at Panapana near Bahanaga station in Balasore district of Odisha on Friday. At least 30 passengers were killed while over 200 critically injured while death toll may rise as many were badly injured.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said;”Distressed by the train accident in Odisha. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon. Spoke to Railway Minister @AshwiniVaishnaw and took stock of the situation. Rescue ops are underway at the site of the mishap and all possible assistance is being given to those affected.”
