BHUBANESWAR:Chandrashekharpur PS Case No. 863 Dt. 24.12.25 U/s 304(2) BNS turned to Sec- 309(4)/317 (2)/317(4)/3(5) BNS.
Complt.:- Ranjan Kumar Prusty (39) S/o- Upendra Krumar Prusty of Plot No-220, Sector -3, Niladri Vihar, PS- Chandrashekharpur, Bhubaneswar, Dist- Khordha.
Gist:- On 24.12.25 Sanjukta Prusty of Niladri Vihar, PS- Chandrashekharpur, mother of the Complt had been to Arnapurna Jewellery, Niladri Vihar for purchasing jewellery. When she was sitting in front of the jewellery shop, suddenly a person came and forcibly snatched away the gold chain from her neck and ran away from the spot.
Investigation:-During course investigation it came to light that accused person Rakesh Rout hired a rental bike i.e Yamaha MT 15 Motor Cycle from Sai Bike rental office, Baramunda and committed snatching randomly at Bhubaneswar city. He used to conceal the number plate by using cloth and also changes his wearing apparels after commission of crime to misguide the police. After thorough and constant verification of CCTV in many cases and physical verification on ground, using human intelligence he could have been apprehended. Rakesh rout is a habitual property offender and previously was forwarded from BBSR UPD. During interrogation he confessed that he had committed robbery of many gold chains from Chandrasekharpur, Nayapalli, Infocity, Bharatpur P.S. area.
After 2015 he was changed himself and opened a betel shop and recently he along with his wife started the crime. The duo were going for snatching and at point Rakesh used to drop his wife and affter snatching picks her up to divert the attention of police in case of CCTV verification. His wife was his close associates and helps in disposal of robbed gold chains. Four numbers of gold chains were mortgaged in Punjab National Bank, Baramunda Branch, Bhubaneswar have been sized and Two numbers of gold chains are sizwd from the receiver Golekh Chandra Sathua of Nischintakoili. Accused person Rakesh Rout and Receiver Swetalina Behera, Golekh Ch Sathua have been arrested and 8 nos of stolen gold chains have been recovered.

(1) Rakesh Rout (35), S/O- Bhismadev Rout of Vill- Natakei, PS- Nischintaloili, Dist- Cuttack, At/Pr- Plot no-2325, Lane 8, PS- Bharatpur, Bhubaneswar, Dist-Khordha. (The snacther).
(2) Swetalina Behera (27) W/o- Rakesh Rout of Vill- Natakei, PS- Nischintaloili, Dist- Cuttack, At/Pr- Plot no-2325, Lane 8, Ps- Bharatpur, Bhubaneswar ,Dist-Khordha. (The wife no the accused).
(3) Golekh Chandra Sathua (65) S/o- Late Jogendra mohan Sathua of Vill- Gopapur PS- PS- Nischintaloili, Dist- Cuttack.(the receiver).
