BHUBANESWAR:Today i.e on 12.08.2026, a short while ago, Byomkesh Mishra, Chief District Agriculture Officer (CDAO), Brahmapur has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance *while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs.15,000/- from a beneficiary to process the file under integrated farming systems under Mukhya Mantri Krushi Udyog Yojana(MKUY) and for facilitating the release of subsidy amount in favour of the beneficiary*. As per the guideline of the above scheme, a beneficiary is entitled to get 50% as a subsidy amount of the invested amount in farming and infrastructure.

The beneficiary had been requesting accused Sri Mishra for the last two months to process his file. Despite several requests made by the beneficiary, the accused CDAO Sri Mishra was not processing the file. Instead, *Sri Mishra demanded bribe Rs.15,000/- at present from the beneficiary for the aforesaid purpose and a fixed percentage at the time of release of the subsidy amount*. Being aggrieved by the demanded bribe, beneficiary ( Complainant) reported the matter to vigilance authorities alleging harassment by Sri Mishra. On this, today, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Sri Mishra, CDAO while taking  bribe Rs. 15,000/- from the complt. *The entire tainted bribe money Rs.15,000/- has been recovered from the possession of accused Sri Mishra, CDAO and seized*.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Sri Mishra from DA angle.
In this connection,  Brahmapur Vigilance P S Case No.08 dt.12.08.2026 u/s 7 P C (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused Sri Mishra, CDAO. Detailed report follows.
