BJP tunes down after Odisha Speaker says ‘Sorry’ to Opposition Leader

BHUBANESWAR: Leader of Oppositions , Pradipta Kumar Naik was on Tuesday smiled backed after Odisha Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro said ‘sorry’ to him for adjourning the House the previous day when the latter was speaking on the mysterious death of Haridaspur woman VLW Smitarani Biswal.

“I was unable to understand what the Leader of Opposition was saying yesterday. I feel sorry for that,” Patro said at the beginning of the Zero Hour, adding that he had no intention to stop Naik from speaking in the House.

But Patro said, “A mistake is a mistake. If anyone commits mistake, there should be no hesitation in saying sorry”. Later the saffron party leaders participated in the business of the House.

Opposition welcomed the Speaker’s gesture, while the Treasury Bench members raised question as how the Speaker can tender apology.
