BHUBANESWAR: BJP members and supporters on Tuesday marched towards the Chief Minister’s residence, Naveen Niwas, here alleging that the State Government has failed to provide justice to Kalahandi teacher Mamita Meher.

However, the agitators were stopped by police near Sishu Bhawan Chhak, leading to a scuffle between the two. A large number of demonstrators were detained by the cops.

BJP leader Lekhasri Samantsinghar said, “For over 120 days, no charge-sheet has been filed against the accused in the case. It clearly shows how serious the Government is to ensure justice to the victim. Rather, today, police misbehaved with us during our peaceful protest.”

She further alleged that though four months have passed since Mamita’s brutal murder, justice is yet to be delivered. “The State Government failed to arrest the concerned Minister and submit charge-sheet against accused Gobinda Sahu.

Instead of taking action to give justice to Mamita’s family, the Government is trying to shield the accused and throttle the voice of opposition,” she added.
