NEW DELHI:BJD MP Dr. Sasmit Patra writes to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on the dissatisfaction expressed by Mahanadi Tribunal .
BJD MP Dr requested that Odisha CM urgently convenes meeting of Water Resources, Law Department, etc of Odisha and place Odisha’s view on record before Tribunal on 2nd May, 2026 at 11am as it is the last opportunity that the Mahanadi Tribunal has allowed for its in Order for all Parties including Odisha.
Following an April 20, 2026, order where the MWDT expressed “serious dissatisfaction” with Odisha and Chhattisgarh regarding a lack of settlement progress, Dr. Patra highlighted key concerns.
Dr. Patra urged CM Majhi to take direct, high-level action to secure a solution that protects downstream interests in Odisha.
The letter points out that despite aligned political leadership in both states, the lack of results threatens crucial irrigation and water security, amid long-standing disputes over upstream construction impacting the Hirakud dam.
