NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR:Dr. Sasmit Patra, BJD MP today met Hon’ble Union Minister for Minority Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju in New Delhi to discuss key developmental issues concerning Gajapati district of Odisha, the State’s only officially notified Minority Concentration District.
During the meeting, Dr. Patra submitted representations seeking establishment of a Medical College in Gajapati and enhanced support under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) for minority education, skill development, girls’ residential facilities and community infrastructure.
Dr. Patra highlighted the district’s continuing challenges in healthcare, education and socio-economic development despite its unique status and significant tribal and minority population.
Shri Kiren Rijiju gave a patient hearing to the issues raised and assured Dr. Patra that he would examine the matters and proposals shared by him.
Dr. Patra expressed hope for focused Central support for the inclusive development of Gajapati district.
