CUTTACK/BHUBANESWAR: A historic chapter has been added towards making the police system of Odisha more strong, people-oriented and efficient. Her Excellency the President Smt. Draupadi Murmu has formally inaugurated the “Rairangpur Police District”.
On this glorious occasion, Odisha Governor Shri Haribabu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha MP Shri Nabacharan Majhi, Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri Mukesh Mahaling, Forest, Environment and Climate Change Minister Shri Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, Rairangpur MLA Shri Jolen Naik, Karanjia MLA Shri Padmacaran Haiburu and Sarasakana MLA Shri Bhadav Hansda were prominently present.
The program was attended by Chief Secretary Mrs. Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary of Home , IPR and Industry Department Shri Hemant Sharma, State Director General of Security Shri Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, Director General of Security (Crime Branch) Shri Binaytosh Mishra, Eastern Range DIG Shri Pinak Mishra, Mayurbhanj SP Shri Barun Guntupali, Mayurbhanj District Magistrate Shri Hemkant Sai, Baripada Deputy District Magistrate Mrs. Kasturi Panda and Rairangpur SP Shri Suresh Kumar Patra along with many distinguished guests.
It is worth mentioning that the Rairangpur Police District was created by the Odisha Government in August 2025 by reorganizing the erstwhile Mayurbhanj Police District. After today’s inauguration, this police district has become fully functional. There are 2 police sub-divisions and 14 police stations under the new police district, which will enable faster, easier and quality police services to be provided to the public.
The launch of Rairangpur Police District is another milestone in the unwavering commitment of Odisha Police towards public service, public safety and good governance. It will further strengthen the law and order system in the region and provide a new dimension in crime control, rapid police response and ensuring public safety.
Odisha Police has always given top priority to “Public Service and Public Safety”. The launch of Rairangpur Police District will further strengthen this objective and further strengthen the trust and confidence of the people in the police.
