ASI to Conduct Laser Scanning of Shree Mandir Barring Sanctum Sanctorum, Informs Dr Krishan Kumar

PURI/BHUBANESWAR: With Chariots getting ready roll on Grand Road on Monday amid COVID-19 restrictions with a very limited congregation, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration Chief Administrator Dr Krishan Kumar informed that the  Archeological Survey of India (ASI) had requested the temple administration for a laser scanning of the 12th century old majestic Temple. After discussing with stakeholders, it was decided to allow the ASI to conduct laser scanning at Natya Mandap, Jagamohan and other parts of the temple barring ‘garbha gruha’ (sanctum sanctorum).

After analysing the benefits of the laser scanning, the temple administration will consider allowing the ASI to carry out the process inside the sanctum sanctorum from next year, Dr Kumar said.He further said a committee of servitors has been formed in presence of whom the laser scanning at the temple will be done.

All ceremonial and other rituals going on peacefully and timely with SJTA Chief Administrator visiting Govardhan Mutt to invite Puri Seer Jagadguru Sankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati. Fitting of Charamala is ongoing. This is being done by Bhoi Sevaks.

Meanwhile, the stage is set for the annual Ratha Jatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra in Odisha’s Puri town on July 12.

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has fixed the schedule for the rituals of the chariot festival. Pahandi ritual commencement- 8.30 AM.Pahandi ritual conclusion- 11.30 AM. Madan Mohan Bije- 12 noon to 12.30 PM.Chita Lagi- 12.30 PM to 1 PM.Chhera Pahanra- 12.45 PM to 2 PM.Detachment of Chara Mala from chariots, attachment of wooden horses and Sarathi to chariots- 2 PM to 3 PM. Pulling of chariots- 3 PM.
