BHUBANESWAR:A separate meeting of the Rehabilitation and Peripheral Development Advisory Committee (RPDAC) for large-scale industrial and mining projects in the district was held in Angul in the presence of Sambalpur MP and former Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Due to the non-convention of RPDAC meetings for many years, many demands and problems of the people of the region were pending. Through today’s continuous discussions, the state government and the district administration have taken great steps to provide justice to the local citizens and displaced families. The meeting discussed in detail the Mandakini-A coal mine of KPCL, Baitarani West of GMDC, Utkal-E of Nalcor and Brownfield expansion projects of Nalcor. In the meeting, the companies have been directed to provide adequate financial compensation to the landless people, employment to local youth and basic amenities as per the new Land Acquisition Act (LARR Act) of the Central Government.

Shri Pradhan said that for the development of health and education of the people of the area, the LV Prasad National Level Eye Hospital will be re-functionalized in the area with the help of NALCO’s CSR funds. Along with this, the RDC has directed to resolve the fee problem of private schools, provide education to local children in Saraswati Sishumandir and arrange buses on behalf of NALCO to bring children from nearby villages to school.

In a democracy, the main responsibility of our system is to listen to the problems of the people, fulfill their hopes and aspirations and provide them with their rights. Our administration and the state government will always work to protect the interests of the landless and affected people, said Shri Pradhan.

In these separate meetings, Dhenkanal MP Shri Rudra Narayan Pani, Angul, Chendipada, Talcher and Pallahada MLAs, District Collectors and local public representatives participated and discussed in detail the solutions to the problems of the people of the affected areas.
