BHUBANESWAR:An important judgment has been given by the Board of Revenue, Cuttack towards the protection of the land and property of Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath. In O.S.S. Case No. 658/2022, the Revenue Council, Cuttack, hearing a case, dismissed the revision petition regarding a valuable land situated in Talbonia/Kundheibent Sahi Mauja, Puri in the name of Mahaprabhu.

The judgment stated that the said property was originally recorded as the Amritmanohi property of Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath. The Board of Revenue stated in the judgment that there is no evidence that the subsequent transactions relied upon by the appellant in the case had taken the prior approval of the State Government as required under Section 16(2) of the Shri Jagannath Temple Act, 1955. In addition, the Board has cancelled the order issued earlier in the disputed case and the not-final record of rights in the name of the petitioner.

After this important verdict, the said land will be included in the property of Shri Jagannath Mahaprabhu. The Revenue Board has directed the concerned authority to record the said land as Amritmanohi property in the name of Shri Jagannath Mahaprabhu BJ, Puri through the Temple Management Committee. Along with this, the Shri Jagannath Temple administration has been directed to take immediate steps towards including the remaining property of the concerned Sabik Account in the name of Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath.

Welcoming this verdict of the Board of Revenue, the administration of the temple has always been committed to the protection of Mahaprabhu’s property, proper record keeping and legal protection, said Dr. Arvind Kumar Padhi, Chief Administrator of the temple. For the protection of Mahaprabhu’s property and the necessary corrections in the records, the record correction process will be expedited by the Puri Tehsildar under the supervision of the Puri District Collector.
Illegal transfer, encroachment, illegal usurpation by land mafia or any other irregularities of Mahaprabhu’s property will not be tolerated under any circumstances. All necessary steps will be taken as per the law to protect and restore Mahaprabhu’s property, said the Chief Administrator of the temple.
