BHUBANESWAR: Odisha’s RTI activist Pradeep Pradhan was on Tuesday requested Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to send luxury buses to ferry stranded Odia workers in various States in view of the COVID-19 lockdown. Pradhan’s reaction came following reports of Odia workers returning home with their own arrangements from Gujarat.

“As a show of our commitment and symbol of extending helping hand to millions of our Odia Migrant labourers staying in outside state, the High profile bus used by Chief Minister, Odisha during 2019 election campaign should be sent first to Surat or Mumbai to bring back our labourers suffering a lot due to COVID 19 lockdown and followed by thousands of buses to ply to different States, as discussed in bureaucratic circle,” RTI activist Pradhan posted in his Facebook page.

“I suggest the inaugural ceremony can be organised the way it was organised for Chief Minister during his visit to New Delhi to attend tripartite meeting for resolving Mahanadi Water dispute.

I support Govt. initiative to bring back migrant labourers to our state and suggest that all precautionary measures with proper COVID testing and full fledged arrangements of quarantine homes at GP level to be ensured,” Pradhan added.
