BHUBANESWAR:A golden chapter has been inscribed in the cultural and spiritual history of Odisha today.  Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi flagged off the special train carrying over 1100 devotees from Odisha to the holy temple of Lord Somnath in Patan, Gujarat, as part of the historic ‘Somnath Swabiman Yatra-2026’ in Bhubaneswar.

CM Majhi said ” This travel is a unique symbol of our deep faith, devotion and cultural glory. Lord Lingaraj in the east and Lord Somnath in the west; these two divine powers have bound the entire Indian year in the thread of unity and indestructible consciousness. Inspired by the mantra of the eminent Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi , ‘Vikash Bhi, Virasat Bhi’, the organization of this ‘Somnath Swabiman Yatra-2026’ commemorates the unique conjunction of 1000 years of the attack on the Somnath Temple and the 75th year of its re-establishment,”

In order to establish an unbreakable bond between Odisha and Somnath, the holy water of the sacred lake of Ekamra Kshetra and the holy soil of the Kedargauri Temple have been sent for offering at the feet of the Lord.
‘Our government has always made continuous efforts to protect and promote the uniqueness, glorious culture and heritage of the state. I wish all the pilgrims involved in the pilgrimage a blessed and pleasant journey and sincerely pray to the Lord for the happiness, peace and prosperity of the entire people of Odisha,” CM said. Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Ekamra MLA Babu Singh and others were among those present.
