7 Odisha Migrant Workers Killed in Bus Mishap in CG: Naveen announces Rs 2 Lakh Ex-Gratia, Minister Sushant Singh rushed to Raipur

BHUBANESWAR/RAIPUR: At least 7 migrant workers of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s home turf of southern district of Ganjam  were on Saturday killed after the Bus in which they were travelling to Gujarat’s Surat from their home State, lost control and met with accident. Reportedly, the bus collided with a truck head-on near Cherikhedi in the neigbouring state resulting in a huge impact on the passengers. Remaining 59 were safe and admitted in hospital.

Chief Minister  Patnaik announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of the kin of the deceased and free treatment for the injured in the tragic bus mishap that took place in Raipur of Chhattisgarh.The Chief Minister expressed deep grief at the death of seven-passenger of Odisha in the bus mishap.

Besides, the Odisha CM also asked his cabinet colleague Susanta Singh to proceed to Raipur to extend necessary assistance to the victims. Patnaik also asked Odisha DGP Abhay to be in touch with his Chhattisgarh counterpart for coordination. DGP has also rushed Padampur SDPO in Bargarh to the spot.

As per available information, the tragic event took place while the passengers were en route to Surat from Ganjam. At least seven persons were killed after a bus carrying labourers met with an accident near Cherikhedi in Chhattisgarh.All the injured persons have been admitted to a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, the health condition of six injured labourers is stated to be critical.

While the truck and the badly damaged bus has been seized, the truck driver is reportedly absconding. On the other hand, cops are trying to contact the owner of the bus.According to initial reports, the truck suddenly drove from the wrong side following which, the bus driver failed to avoid the crash, sources said.
