MUMBAI/ BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday addressed the Odisha State Roundtable at India Steel 2025 in Mumbai, showcasing Odisha’s rise as the Steel Capital of India and its shift from resource extraction to value creation. India Steel 2025 continues through April 26, offering a comprehensive platform for stakeholders to engage, ideate, and lead the way forward.
Additional Chief Secretary to CM NK Dhal, Additional Chief Secretary Industry and MSME Department, Hemant Sharma, CM Private Secretary Manoj Sahoo and others were among those present , besides industry leaders and investors.
‘With 54 integrated steel plants, 47% share in India’s mineral output & a target of over 130 MTPA steel capacity by 2030, Odisha is driving downstream expansion, manufacturing innovation & national growth,” CM Majhi said.
CM Majhi further said, with 54 integrated steel plants & a roadmap to scale up to 130 MTPA by 2030, Odisha is ensuring seamless raw material availability, completely from within state while planning to supply 240–245 MT of iron ore, which is 70% of 340 MT projected iron ore consumption by 2030-31.
CM said “ Odisha is shifting gears, from resource extraction to value creation. Under Vision2036, the state is building a full-spectrum metal-based value chain, covering engineering goods, mining machinery, and aerospace components,”
‘With policy stability, mineral security, top-tier infrastructure, seamless EODB ecosystem and proactive governance, Odisha stands out as Bharat’s most investment-ready state. The Odisha growth story gets wings of steel, aiming to soar high,” he said.
CM Majhi reiterated Odisha’s leading contribution in India’s steel journey. Odisha produces over 55% of the nation’s iron ore, topping the charts in both crude and stainless steel output. We are not just contributing, but also leading.
With participation from over 250 exhibitors across 15 countries, the exhibition hall buzzed with activity, showcasing cutting-edge equipment, automation solutions, and sustainable product lines. Delegates explored advances in AI, robotics, and materials science that are shaping the future of steel.
The Day-2 of India Steel 2025 witnessed the presence of Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce & Industry, Govt of India; Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education, Govt of India; Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, I&B and Electronics & Information Technology, Govt of India; Shri Pralhad Joshi, Minister of New & Renewable Energy, Govt of India; along with Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Chief Minister of Odisha; addressed the industry leaders, delegates along with exhibitors on various sessions on infrastructure, export strategies, and skill development.
