BHUBANESWAR/ANGUL/DHENKANAL: Acting tough on wrong doers, Odisha Government was on Thursday suspended Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Dhenkanal’s Kankadahad police station Pramod Kumar Lenka and Angul Police Station SI Arkhita Sethi over dereliction in duty.

Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Dhenkanal’s Kankadahad police station,  Lenka, has been suspended on Thursday on the charges of gross misconduct and indiscipline.

Director-General of Police (DGP) Abhay today placed IIC Lenka under suspension with immediate effect. During his period of suspension, Lenka will remain under the disciplinary control of IG of police at NCR in Talcher.

Reportedly, the IIC allegedly did not register a case of a woman who was assaulted. Three weeks after the incident, when the victim’s son went to enquire about the same, the victim along with her son were detained for recording the conversation with the IIC in their mobile phone.

Meanwhile, Angul Police Station SI Sethi has also been suspended by the district SP for allegedly not providing important evidence of a case to the court.

In compliance with the direction of North-Central Range DIG Narsingh Bhola, SP Jagmohan Meena placed Arakhita Sethi under suspension for negligence in investigation and failing to submit a probe report before the court.

Reportedly, police have forwarded one Bapi alias Satyajit Pradhan (33) to court after seizing three guns and nine live bullets from him. However, Bapi obtained bail in mere half-an-hour following which questions were raised on police investigation.

Both DIG and SP initiated a probe into the incident on Wednesday following which they suspended Sethi.
