At a time when excessive bureaucratic interferences coming under political attack in Odisha , such gesture by a District Magistrate speaks a lot.
Take a close look at this photo, Sarpanch of Masigaon under Junagarh block in Kalahandi sitting coolly while District Magistrate, and young IAS officer, Ms P Anvesha Reddy holding an umbrella for the Sarpanch and herself as it’s raining. The DM and Sarpanch were travelling in a country made boat to oversee development work while it was raining. Without any second thought, the young IAS officer held her umbrella to save the Sarpanch from rains.
Kalahandi DM Ms P. Anvesha Reddy’s such noble gesture to a tribal Sarpanch has gone viral in social media.
WODC CEO Dr Mishra further tweeted ‘@DmKalahandi holding an umbrella for the Sarpanch of Masigaon and herself. A sound bureaucrat does not let the hierarchy in administration get to her/his head. They are grounded, helpful, humble and always cheerful like Ms Anwesha is seen here,’.
Masigaon village is located in Junagarh tehsil of Kalahandi district. It is situated 20km away from sub-district headquarter Junagarh (tehsildar office) and 46km away from district headquarter Bhawanipatna.
