NEW DELHI: Universities should be hubs of innovation to meet societal needs. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said this while unveiling a logo of Sammakkara Sarakka Central Tribal University (SSCTU) in Telangana through video conferencing from New Delhi today.
Congratulating the university on the launch of its logo, Shri Pradhan said that the logo has been designed with tribal and Sanskrit principles in mind. The logo represents the two main roles of the institution. One is to be a custodian of tribal traditions and knowledge and the other is to act as a beacon of educational excellence. The establishment of this institution in Telangana is a shining example of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s commitment to educational equality, tribal empowerment and fulfilling the promises made to the people of Telangana. The institution is being developed at a cost of about Rs. 800 crore.
He said that the National Education Policy is an implementation of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. It paves the way for a developed India. It needs to be implemented properly to ensure global welfare. The Prime Minister’s visionary National Education Policy has given more importance to mother tongue. Priority is being given to teaching children in regional and mother tongue. The Central Tribal University, Sammakka Sarakka, will bring a new dimension to the study of Indian civilization, including multilingual education. With the motto “Jyanam Param Dhyyam”, it will become a practical, research and innovation-driven university, Shri Pradhan opined.Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kisan Reddy was the prominent present at the event.
