SAMBALPUR/BHUBANESWAR: Two hard-core cadres of banned CPI(Maoist) outfit surrendered before I.G of Police, Northern Range, Sambalpur, and S.P, Bargarh at Bargarh.
Amila @ Paro @ Puja Tati (ACM) was active in Gandhamardan Reserve Forest area since 2010. She was actively trying to expand Maoist activities in Baragarh and Bolangir districts. She was carrying a cash reward of Rs. 4.00lakhs
Similarly, Raghu @ Saitu Padam (ACM) was active in Gandhamardan Reserve Forest area since 2012. He was actively trying to expand Maoist activities in Baragarh and Bolangir districts. He was carrying a cash reward of Rs. 3.00 Lakhs
The surrender of these two hard-core Maoist cadres has dealt a severe jolt to the Maoist activities in Gandhamardan area.
They surrendered before Police after realizing that the outfit has lost its ideological commitment and instead of working for the poor and toiling class of the society, the outfit is indulging in meaningless lawless activities like extortion, attack on innocent civilians and security force personnel etc.
They also revealed that the Chhattisgarh cadres, particularly the women cadres are being subjected to continuous physical, psychological and sexual harassment in the outfit. They saw the large-scale developmental activities which are happening in this area and understood the futility of path of violence
‘We had 2 heavy Exchange of Fires with Naxals in last six months, in which huge quantity of Maoist articles and literature recovered. Continuous fear of police action due to increased police operations in the interior areas as evidenced by the recent EOFs in Gandhamardan RF area has also prompted them to join the mainstream, police said.
Both the surrendered Maoist cadres were involved in several heinous crimes including killing of one Raj Kishore Panda of village Telenpalli, PS–Khaparakhol on 14.8.2011, Krushna Punji, Ward Member of village Khuripani, PS – Khaparakhol on 14.11.2011, Bijay Sahoo of village Salepalli, PS–Paikmalon 17.03.2018, Exchanges of Fire with Police in Gandhamardan RF area on 21.06.2011, 08.08.2020, 26.9.2017, 23.02.2024 and 17.04.2024 etc. and burning of Kendu leaf godowns in Khaparakhol PS area.
We welcome both the surrendered Maoist cadres to the mainstream society.They will be rehabilitated as per the existing Surrender & Rehabilitation of the Government. They will also get financial assistance for building house, pursuing studies and getting training in a trade/vocation of their will, IGP and SP said.
Hon’ble Union Home Minister has given the target to eradicate the left-wing extremism menace by March, 2026. Under that mission, in the Guidance of Hon’ble Union Home Minister, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha and Hon’ble DGP Odisha Police, Bargarh Police is making continuous efforts on all fronts to finish the Naxals from the area. In this direction, this is the outcome of our sustained and targeted efforts that ACM Amila @ Puja @ Paro and ACM Raghu@Saitu Padam are surrendering today. We have also formed strategies and plans under the Guidance of Director (Intelligence) and ADG(Ops) to finish the Naxal menace within the timeline given by the Hon’ble Union Home Minister
‘We take this opportunity to appeal the Maoists to shun violence, join the mainstream society and live a decent life. We take this opportunity to re-iterate that the State Government is determined and resolute to stamp out the Maoist menace from the State and more aggressive action will be taken against the Maoists in the coming days, police said.
