NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: Union PNG-Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was on Saturday written a letter to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik seeking personal intervention to submit the proposal for the development of Mahendragiri under Ramayan Circuit of the Swadesh Darshan Scheme.
Projects for development under the scheme are identified in consultation with the state governments/UT administrations but submission of suitable detailed project reports by Odisha has been delayed , for which Union Pradhan written to Chief Minister Patnaik to submit the detail proposals for development. Rs 70.81 Crore had already be sanctioned for development of Gopalpur, Barakula, Satapada and Tampapada in 2016-17 budget, Pradhan said.
Mahendragiri hill in Odisha’s Gajapati and 14 other tourist destinations of the country were selected by the Union tourism ministry for development under the Ramayana Circuit.Ramayan Circuit is one of the 15 thematic circuits identified for development under the Swa-desh Darshan scheme.
Located on the border of Andhra in Odisha district, Mahendragiri hill a part of Eastern Ghats.It is associated with mythological stories from the Ramayana as Mahendra Parvata (mountain).Mahendragiri is also considered as a ‘Kula Parvata’ along with Malaya, Sahyadri, Parijatra, Shuktiman, Vindhya and Malyavaan.
