BERHAMPUR: On 10 July while Sadar Police team were performing night patrolling near New Baiganabadi village , at around 3.30 AM , the police team came across a two wheeler were three persons were riding .
Seeing police , all the 3 persons left the bike and jumped into the nearby field. Out of suspicion, police team chased them . It was heavily raining and fields became slushy. Police chased them in the field. Making use of darkness , rain and slushy field the suspects fled into the nearby jungle areas.
On examining the bike, a bag was found having drilling machines , plyers and other instruments used for burglary. The suspicion that accused persons could be burglars increased. The police team came back to police station and again split into 3 teams and searched nearby villages.
Around 5 AM the police team found the suspects waiting for bus near Kukudahandi bus stand. They were detained and on checking them , around 125 g gold and around 15 thousand cash was found . Upon interrogation they revealed that , they had burgled one house located in Kukudakhandai , Jyoti Nagar. Sadar police team called the owner Mr P. Narayani Rao Dora.All the accused persons were arrested.
Total 125g Gold and around 15 thousand cash that was seized from the accused persons was handed over to the rightful owner today at the SP office.
The patrolling team consisted of ASI Tirupati Sabar, OAPF/55 Binod Raita, OAPF/89 Kerkenda Dalabehera, HG/334 Kanha Sahu, HG/356 Narayan Gouda.
All the officers and staff were appreciated by SP Berhampur Dr Saravana Vivek M. Each of them were rewarded Rs.2000 each. Alert patrolling police team has not only detected a Burglary case , but also has prevented many possible burglaries.
Main accused person Lipu aka Lipun Sahoo aka Susanta Sahop was previously arrested in 3 Burglary and Robbery cases in Tirtol PS of Jagatsinghpur district . He’s currently out in bail.

1. Lipu @ Lipun Sahoo @ Susanta Sahoo (32 Yrs) S/O- Banamali Sahoo, Vill- Balipatana, Tanti Sahi, PS- Tirtol, Dist- Jagatsinghpur, At/ Present- Dengaosta, PS- Patapur.
2. Santosh Prusty (48 Yrs), S/O- Late Uttam Prusty of Vill. Bahadaguda, PS. Pattapur, Dist. Ganjam.
3. Cheru @ S. Umakanta Dora (48 Yrs), S/O- Late S. Sarathi, Vill- Dharampur. PS- Patapur.
