JODA/CHAMPUA/BARBIL: The Sajjan Jindal owned JSW Steel, which had won as many as 4 major Iron ore and manganese blocks under Joda-Koira mining circles of Odisha’s mineral rich Keonjhar and Sundargarh, is facing stiff local resistance.
Local Truck Owners alleged that the move of JSW Steel to transport iron ore from mines through Hyvas instead of dumpers, would hit livelihood of 4000 dumper owners.
Local have opposed the JSW Steel transportations at Jururi and Banspani railway sidings in Keonjhar district, sources said.
JSW Steel had owned Nuagaon Iron Ore, Narayanposhi Iron & Manganese Ore, Ganua Iron Ore and Jajang iron ore block, which were earlier held by KJS Ahluwalia Group and Rungta Mines Limited.
Sources said the these two previous lease holders were using local dumpers of the Mining Truck Owners’ Association but JSW Steel, which started its mining operations , decided to engage Hyvas for the purpose, which was anguished local dumber owners .
JSW Steel hoped that once the 4 blocks functions with full capacity, it is expected to produce around 36 Million MT per annum and meet about 70% of its requirements. At present, Sajjan’s JSW has only 15% own Iron Ore Resources.
