BHUBANESWAR/KOIRA/JODA: The Rungta Mines Limited, which had lost half dozen of its running mines in Joda-Koira mining circles of Odisha’s mineral rich Keonjhar and Sundargarh district in last bidding , has got a major boost with the 93rd State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy giving nod to 2 projects of Jharkhand’s Chaibasa Headquarters’, RML Group worth Rs 1,926 Crore.
The proposal of Rungta Mines Limited for setting up of a 34 MTPA beneficiation plant in two phases received the SLSWCA nod in a big boost to the State’s metal downstream sector. The Rs. 975 crore project is likely to provide employment to about 290 people.
Besides, another proposal of Rungta Mines Limited to set up 20 MTPA underground slurry pipe line from its proposed beneficiation Plant at Bonai/Champua sub-division to its 3 different plant locations with an investment of Rs. 951 crore was also approved by the SLSWCA. It is likely to provide employment opportunities for 72 people.
This apart, the proposal of Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited for expansion of its pellet plant from 0.3 MTPA to 1.2 MTPA capacity with an investment of Rs. 76.92 crore and employment opportunity for additional 610 people was given a green signal by the SLSWCA.
Wellman Steels Gangeya Supply Agency Private Limited’s proposal for setting up of 1.8 MTPA beneficiation plant and 1.2 MTPA Pellet Plant with an investment of Rs. 170 crore and generating additional employment opportunities for 150 people was also approved by the SLSWCA today.
In total, on Friday, the Odisha Government has approved projects in sectors like metal and metal downstream worth over Rs 2172.92 crore, which would likely generate employment for 1,122 people.
Earlier in April this year, HLCA approved the proposal for setting up an expansion of its Integrated Steel Plant project from 0.9 MTPA to 2.85 MTPA capacity, with Captive Power Plant of 385 MW and 1.69 MTPA Cement Plant (in two phases) at- Jharbandh, District-Dhenkanal with a total investment of Rs. 7836.90 crore providing employment of about 4900 people.
The Rungta Mines Ltd Group, which had lost at least half dozen running mines under Joda-Koira regions of State’s mineral rich Sundargarh-Keonjhar regions, in the last concluded bidding, following lease expired on March 31 this year, till has 2 running mines, which has lifespan of 15 years and more while the Big Merchant Miner is also eyeing on large share of 9 Virgin Blocks, which will be put for bidding soon.
