BHUBANESWAR: 6 quintals of Ganja worth ₹ 60,00,000 was seized by STF Puri and Brahamgiri Police on dated May 3 this year. Two major mafia / Ganja suppliers Bijay Kumar Pani (50) and Satrujit Pani (23), residents of Brahamgiri were arrested under stringent NDPS act vide Brahmagiri P.S Case No. 90Date 03.05.2023 U/s- 20(b)(ii) (C ) IPC and 4 Explosive Substance Act-1908.Because of sustained effort of Puri Police against Brown Sugar, these 2 accused persons were trying to open a corridor for Ganja.
They were obtaining Ganja from Kandhmal and had stored the same at various places in order to supply the same during upcoming car festival at Puri. Timely action was taken by Puri Police and huge quantity of Ganja was seized.
In order to break the financial funding and to in order trace and identify the illegally acquired property by the accused Bijay Kumar Pani and his son Pintu @Satrujit Pani financial investigation was started in the above case as per Sec.68-E of NDPS Act-1985 vide Puri District Financial InvestigationNo.01/2023.Today, on 28.5.2023, early morning under leadership of SDPO Sadar KC Mund, 3 Teams of Puri Police comprising three Inspectors, 6 SIs, 8 ASIs and one platoon of force (under supervision of Additional SP Mihir Panda have raided various locations and have seized the immovable and movable properties (Valued more than 3 Crores) of these accused persons. They have acquired the properties from ill-Gotten money obtained from transaction of Ganja, Puri SP K Vishal Singh said at a press meet.
The seized properties details are -Immovable property1. Four plots in Mouza Gopinathpur.2. Two plots in Mouza Kapileswarpur3. Three plots in Mouza Sipasarubali4. One Suzuki Burgman two wheelerPreliminary estimate reveals as the properties accumulated by the accused persons are in excess of their known sources of income and are ill gotten from the illegal trade of narcotics, SP Vishal Singh said.
Legal process is being initiated for their confiscation under the NDPS Act. This is 2nd such seizure by Puri Police. On 31.3.2022, ill-Gotten property of a Drug Mafia valued at more than ₹1 crore including a Godown, 2 JCB, Tractor & Car were seized & approval was granted by competent authority at Kolkata. Puri Police Drive to make Puri Street Crime Free will continue, the SP added.
