CUTTACK: The Odisha High Court here on Wednesday granted a four-day interim bail to Patnagarh parcel bomb blast accused, Punjilal Meher to conduct his mother’s post-funeral last rites from January 24 to 28.
The High Court granted bail to Meher on certain conditions. Accordingly, during the release period, Meher has been asked not to interact with any media persons. He has been also asked to take prior permission from the local IIC if he visits outside the district.
Furthermore, Meher will be under the scanner of the district police as per the direction of the court.In the order, the HC also directed Meher to surrender before jail authorities on January 28 by 11 AM.
Meher, an English lecturer at Jyoti Vikash Junior College in Patnagarh, was arrested in 2018 in the parcel bomb blast case in which a newlywed youth Soumya Sekhar Sahoo and his grandmother Jemamani were killed. Soumya’s wife, Reema was also seriously injured in the blast.
