BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday increased the gratuity and allowances of Panchayati Raj representatives of the state. Zilla Parishad presidents will get a monthly allowances of Rs 30,000 instead of Rs 9,380. Their daily allowance has been increased from Rs.300 to Rs.600.
The remuneration of the Zilla Parishad vice-presidents has been increased from Rs 7,040 to Rs 20,000 and their allowance has been increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000. While the Zilla Parishad members were getting Rs 3,530 earlier, now they will get Rs 10,000 monthly bonus and their daily allowance has been increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 600.
Panchayat Samiti chairpersons used to get Rs 3,530, now they will get Rs 15,000. Panchayat Samiti vice chairman will get Rs 7,500 while earlier they were getting Rs 2,350. Panchayat Samiti members will get Rs 7,500, Sarpanchs Rs 10,000 and Naib Sarpanchs Rs 4,000. The daily allowance of Panchayat Samiti Chairman, Deputy, Panchayat Samiti members, Sarpanch Naib Sarpanch and Ward members has been increased from Rs.240 to Rs.480.
It is worth noting that earlier, 79.88 crore rupees were spent on remuneration and allowances of Panchayati Raj representatives. According to the increased amount, now 242.56 crores will be spent. The state government will bear an additional cost of Rs.162.68 crore for this.
Apart from this, in case of separation during the tenure of the Panchayati Raj representatives, a sum of Rs 2 Lakh. In addition to this, an assistance of Rs 2 lakh will be given in case of accidental total disability. Similarly, in case of partial disability, an assistance of Rs.1 lakh will be given.
