BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Cricket Association Vice President Pankaj Lochan Mohanty has attended the special General meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at Ahmedabad in Gujarat on Saturday chaired by Board President Rozar Binny and Secretary Jay Shah among others. Sources said, OCA Vice President Mr Mohanty has requested BCCI to include Cuttack’s Barabati Stadium in World Cup 2023 venue list.
The schedule for the 2023 World Cup will be unveiled during the World Test Championship final at The Oval, which was discussed during the Special general meeting.
The board has prepared a list of more than a dozen venues across India, and the final shortlist will be shared with the ICC soon.
A total of 48 matches, including the three knockout games, are set to be played across the 46-day period.
The 2023 Cricket World Cup will be the 13th edition of the Cricket World Cup, a quadrennial One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament. It is scheduled to be hosted by India with the tournament starting from 5 October to 19 November 2023, though the ICC previously announced the final would be on 26 November. It will be the first time the competition is held entirely in India; three previous editions were partially hosted there – 1987, 1996, and 2011.
