BHUBANESWAR: The Naveen Patnaik led Odisha Government is reportedly planning to accommodate ruling BJD’s some disgruntled leaders in several Co-Operative Societies and Central Banks, terms of which are expiring by April 30 and May 1 while terms of PACSs in Village, Panchayat and Block levels were expired 3 months back without holding any elections.
“Terms of societies of MARKFED, OMFED, Housing Board Corporation, State Co-Operative Bank, Central Co-operative Bank is ending by April 30 and May 1. As per law, after expire of terms of these societies, Register shall take charge till further election but the State Government is reportedly preparing a list to accommodate several ruling party leaders without holding Co-operative Elections across the State in a democratic manner,” sources said on Monday.He further said that citing COVID-19 and subsequent lockdown, Government even keeps mum on the issue while terms of these Co-operative Societies are expiring by April last and May first.
The State Government knowingly delaying the election and some BJD leaders will be accommodated soon and it was a severe violation of all democratic practices,” added senior Advocate Subrata Nanda. It may be noted here that, many family relatives of BJD leaders and Ministers like Raja Swain, Snehagini Churia, Puspendra Singh Deo and others were heading several leading Co-Operative Banks and Societies, sources added.
