BHUBANESWAR: BJP Leader and MLA Pradip Panigrahy on Sunday alleged that the health services of Odisha have become a complete disaster under the BJJ regime. Due to shortage of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff in government medical centers, people are forced to depend on costly private hospitals due to lack of treatment. While the health services in the state are in full swing, the state government is indulging in false advertising and propaganda.
Prime Minister Modiji has established AIIMS Hospital to provide better quality healthcare to the people of the country. 31 crore Indians have benefited through Ayushman Bharat Yojana. More than 2000 medicines and medical equipment are available at very cheap prices in public medicine centres. More than 10,000 public medicine centers have been opened across the country to provide medicines at a very low cost, saving 25 thousand crores of rupees. 488 public drug centers have been opened in Odisha and savings of Rs 780 crore have been made possible. 7251 wellness centers have been opened in Odisha under Ayushman Yojana of the central government, he said.
On the other hand, even after 24 years of rule, the state government has completely failed to provide health services. 47 thousand doctors are required in the state, but there are only 27 thousand doctors. Out of 28285 nursing officers of the state, 17385 posts are vacant, 998 posts are vacant out of 3490 pharmacist posts, 915 are vacant out of 2235 laboratory technician posts, 378 are vacant out of 695 radiologist posts. The Biju Janata Dal had announced that it would make major medical colleges of three states universal during the election campaign, but it fell flat. SCB Medical College in Cuttack, the largest medical college of the state, patients are crying for drinking water.
The number of patients is increasing due to the state’s disastrous health care system. Why is the Chief Minister, who has been shouting that Odisha’s healthcare service is world-class, going to a private hospital in Delhi instead of going to a government hospital? 3-3 former health ministers of the state late Dr. Dam Raut, Mr. Prasanna Acharya and Mr. Nab Das were treated in the government hospital and why were they taken to the private hospital with the help of an airlift? If the ministers of the ruling BJ are being deprived of proper treatment in the government hospitals, then what is the condition of the common people of Odisha?
The Odisha government is adept at hijacking the central scheme and naming it as its own scheme. Why is the Chief Minister not implementing such a welfare scheme after repeatedly requesting to implement Ayushman Yojana in Odisha? In Modiji’s plan, Naveen Babu is misleading people by wearing his party colors and symbols. It is unfortunate that Naveen Babu is dreaming colorfully without improving health care in Odisha. In fact, the state government’s talk is strong and action is weak. -Vadidayak Shri Pradeep Manigrahi
